Radboud University Nijmegen Partners with Thomson Reuters to Expand Global Research Presence and Position Netherlands as Top Knowledge Economy

InCites Platform Provides Valuable Tools to Measure and Compare Research Performance

Philadelphia, PA, London, UK, February 15, 2012 - The IP & Science business of Thomson Reuters today announced a two-year agreement with Radboud University Nijmegen, Netherlands, to provide access to the InCites(TM) platform, a customized, web-based research evaluation tool. The institutional performance analysis and benchmarking tools available through InCites will help the university measure the effectiveness of its research and compare it with peer institutions across the globe.

The partnership comes at the same time as a Dutch government initiative to invest in science as a means to place the Netherlands in the top five global knowledge economies by 2020. Backed by Thomson Reuters citation and institutional profiling data, InCites offers in-depth analytics that will enable better return on research investment for Radboud University Nijmegen as it seeks to expand its global research presence while also contributing to the goals for national growth in science.

Using InCites citation metrics, Radboud University Nijmegen's Research Office can quantify the results of research investment in key areas, including citations, discipline and collaboration, to measure and evaluate institutional performance. Resources found within InCites allow university administrators to monitor research impact, identify internal strengths and weaknesses, and plan research strategy in line with goals on the university or national level. The InCites platform also incorporates a wide range of qualitative and quantitative data collected from institutions and researchers in 47 countries to provide an insider's view into the abilities and expertise of each institution

"The InCites platform will be a major advantage for the university in tracking and assessing our research efforts," said Ir. R.J. de Wijkerslooth, president of Radboud University Nijmegen."As we strive to improve our global standing in our four scientific specialties, the comprehensive analysis provided by the platform will help us meet - and hopefully exceed - expectations."

"We are pleased to partner with Radboud University Nijmegen to help the university gain useful insights into its performance and, ultimately, further its reputation as one of the top research institutions in the Netherlands," said Keith MacGregor, executive vice president at Thomson Reuters. "The InCites platform will be a valuable resource for institutional evaluation and benchmarking thanks to the high quality data and analytics Thomson Reuters is known for."
