Vancouver, British Columbia, February 16, 2012 - Barkerville Gold Mines (TSXV:BGM) (Frankfurt:1WUB) has released more excellent results from the company's large gold project in British Columbia. The following highlights are the gold intercepts from drilling on the Cow Mountain property. Hole CM11-074 reported 27.4 metres of 7.09 grams per tonne starting at the 215 metre level Hole CM11-109 reported 4.7 metres of 11.313 grams per tonne starting at the 214 metre level Hole CM11-125 reported 4.1 metres of 22.328 grams per tonne starting at the 144 metre level, and Hole CM11-140 reported 11.1 metres of 12.75 grams per tonne starting at the 21 metre level.

A total of 235 drill holes, including those that got stuck and abandoned, were completed on both Cow and Barkerville Mountains during the 2011 drill program, that was wrapped up in December, just days before Christmas. These drill holes include 167 exploration holes on Cow Mountain, 41 exploration and 5 environmental holes on Barkerville Mountain, and 22 monitoring water holes on both Cow and Barkerville Mountains.Pending assay results of the remaining drill holes will be released as soon as they are available. Barkerville has spent more than 15 years putting this project together and now has mineral tenures covering more than 1,147 square kilometres, encompassing 7 past producing hard rock mines and 3 NI 43-101 gold deposits. In February 2010 the company completed the acquisition of the QR Mine and Mill, and in September 2010, the company became Canada's newest gold producer when it poured its first gold dore at the site. In December, the company received a permit under the Mines Act of British Columbia to develop the Province's newest open pit gold mine at its Bonanza Ledge property near Wells. Barkerville expects to complete an updated resource estimate by the end of the first quarter of 2012, and anticipates completing a feasibility study on Cow Mountain during the 3rd quarter of 2012.
